Teachings on emptiness

Teachings on emptiness state that humans exist not as separate agents of action, but as interconnected and interdependent beings exchanging thoughts, feelings, experiences, and atoms. We are all dependent on everyone else for every aspect of our existence. Think of all of the human labor that goes into everything you experience during the course of your day—who put together your alarm clock, and where did the raw materials and technology come from? Who grew the food you eat? Who made the clothes you wear? Who built the home you live in? Where did these things come from? When you meditate on how much we all rely on each other just to get through our morning routines, emptiness and interdependence are not esoteric concerns. They are the mind-boggling realities that penetrate every aspect of our existence.
